My Favorite Tapers

     These rods have been developed to cast modern double taper and weight forward fly lines smoothly and accurately without sacrificing distance or power. The use of compound tapers provides them with an excellent strength to weight ratio and a pleasant action that loads efficiently at all reasonable distances. Classic and custom tapers are also available.

4'6" 4 weight. Available as 1 or 2 piece rod. A fast action rod for the tightest conditions.

6' 2 weight. Available as 2 or 3 piece rod. A lot of fun with small dry flies. It makes a 12 inch brook trout feel like a steelhead.

6' 3 weight. Available as 2 or 3 piece rod. A very popular rod. Crisp and responsive, it is capable of surprising distance for a rod of this size. Its ability to throw tight loops under overhanging branches makes it my favorite rod for small mountain streams.

6'6" 3 weight. Available as 2 or 3 piece rod. For everyone that asked for a longer 3 weight rod that had all the properties of the 603...... here it is.

6'9" 3 weight. Available as 2 or 3 piece rod. Slower than the 603, this rod makes smooth, almost effortless casts and does a wonderful job of protecting the light tippets needed for wary trout in clear water.

7' 4 weight. Available as 2 or 3 piece rod. This rod has the same crisp, responsive action as the 603. Its added length and larger line size make it a good "all around" rod on everything from tiny spring creeks to medium sized rivers.
