PROJECTS
Help Protect the Brook Trout in the Savage River Drainage
The Youghiogheny Chapter of T.U. has developed a web site for information about the Eastern Brook Trout venture and other studies ongoing in Trout Unlimited. There is a online petition for you to sign to show support for the Savage Brook Trout. Please take a minute and sign the petition, it will help combat the threats to the regulations that are now in place. The web site is: www.savageriverbrooktrout.org
MUDDY CREEK PROJECT
The Muddy Creek project was started in 1999 to help restore this Youghiogheny tributary from the adverse affects of acid rain. Limestone fines were added in the fall through winter to raise the ph of the water after snow and or rainfall. In 2000 the Youghiogheny T.U. along with the Maryland DNR began stocking Brown trout in the section between Cranesville swamp and Swallow Falls State park. With the help of our scholarship recieptant the project is doing well with the insect populations and the trout both growing.
SAVAGE RIVER CLEAN-UP
