Welcome to A. Noland Handcrafted Bamboo Rods. It has been my goal to produce the finest quality bamboo rods, designed to meet the demands of today's fly fishermen/women. With the price of many classic rods soaring into the thousands of dollars, and older production rods going for several hundred, a new rod may be a more logical choice for many bamboo enthusiasts. By blending traditional handcrafted beauty with modern adhesives and taper design, rod makers can now produce a rod that will outperform and outlast anything previously made. Some of the finest split cane rods ever produced are coming out of the shops of rodbuilders today, and many of these will become the classic and collectable rods of tomorrow.
Each A.Noland rod is carefully handcrafted from a single culm of select Tonkin cane. The cane is flame tempered to the desired color, hand split, straitened, heat treated and hand planed to a tolerance of ±.001 of an inch. The planed strips are joined under pressure with a strong waterproof adhesive; the blank is painstakingly sanded and a flawless finish is applied. After being fitted with high quality Super Swiss nickel silver ferrules, the blank is trimmed to the final length and the reel seat and cork grip are attached. The guides are then wrapped with the finest silk thread, that is sealed with multiple coats of varnish. All rods come with a brass capped aluminum tube and a 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
